f you enjoy the immersive soundscapes and intricate compositions of Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Steve Roach, or Philip Glass, I believe Pilgrim’s Horizon might resonate with you in its own unique way.

Pilgrim’s Horizon is a live-recorded odyssey through lush soundscapes, brought to life with the Moog One, Prophet-10, Korg MS-20 accompanied with some modular and software synthesizers. Enriched by the warm, analog character of a reel-to-reel Teac 80-8.

Here’s a brief description of the tracks on the album—a transcription from our listening party:

I wanted to revisit my childhood, a time when I was immersed in reading Orson Scott Card books and listening to Jean-Michel Jarre (JMJ) and Tangerine Dream (TD).

1. Space Travelers was originally called Lonely Orbit and began as a track I composed on my couch using Bitwig and Pigments while working with my big screen projector. Later, I added layers of analog synthesizers. The pads are from the Moog One and Prophet-10, with bass sounds from the Moog Matriarch and more.

2. Chrono Navigator is heavily inspired by Jean-Michel Jarre’s Solinas and Eminent organs, along with many of the sound effects he used in his early albums like Oxygène and Équinoxe.

3. Asteroid Belt Passage starts with the Moog Model D v4, a new software synth from Arturia, and progresses with pads from the Prophet-10 and plucks from the Moog One. These were recorded and slowed down on my reel-to-reel tape recorder. For some reason, this song reminds me of In the Air Tonight, probably because of the Prophet-10 pads.

4. Pilgrim’s Horizon is inspired by early works of Steve Roach, where he incorporated a lot of acoustic instruments. While composing this piece, I found myself reminiscing about the joy of sitting down with a great Orson Scott Card book—especially the one featuring Novinha as the main character. Guitar-wise, it’s hard to miss David Gilmour’s influence on me. All the guitars, like everything else in this track, are live improvisations.

5. Nomad’s Ascent draws heavily from early Tangerine Dream, whose timeless works continue to inspire me. That said, I’ve tried to add my own twist by blending it with my other influences. The piece begins with live performances on the Moog One and transitions into sequences from my modular synthesizer and Roland SH-4d, all framed within a blues progression. The final section feels like it was inspired by Aliens, one of my favorite movies and a significant musical inspiration. The effects throughout are also inspired by Jean-Michel Jarre’s early works, crafted entirely using synthesizers.

6. Stellar Cartographer is a tribute to the memories of reading Stanisław Lem’s books during my childhood. Lem was so ahead of his time, and this track reflects the awe and imagination his stories inspired in me.
