- Optimized for expressive, hands-on control
- No filler – every patch is performance-ready
⚡ Ideal for Berlin School, ambient electronica, synthwave, and cinematic scoring.
Installation Instructions
Thanks to free software, installation is a breeze.
Download a Sysex tool:
- For Mac, use Sysex Librarian.
- For PC, try MIDI-OX or another Sysex-compatible app.
Unzip the archive containing the patch files. You’ll find 32 individual patch+sequence files named: CIJ-MSGR-XX.syx
Each file contains a custom sound with its own sequence.
To load a single patch:
- Open Sysex Librarian.
- Double-click on any
.syx
file to send it to your Messenger. - Important: This loads the patch to the currently selected slot on your Messenger, but does not save it—you’ll need to save it manually on the hardware.
To install the full set:
- Use the included file:
messenger-custom-patches-loaded-to-bank-15-and-16.syx
- This will:
- Restore factory presets to Banks 1–14
- Load my custom patches to Banks 15–16
- ⚠️ Warning: This will overwrite all patches in all banks. Make a backup first!
To back up your current sounds:
- Use Sysex Librarian to export your existing patches as a
.syx
file before proceeding. - Refer to the Moog Messenger manual for details on backing up and restoring.
